The section is active in propagation of qualitative methods of research in social sciences. Organize the conferences on the qualitative methods and qualitative sociology in general. The main theoretical inspiration for the section is symbolic interactionism. Prepares also publication on the topic. The newest publicaation will be "The Dictionariy of Qualitative Sociology", appear in 2012.
The section has more than 100 members.
The section cooperates with Qualitative Sociology Review, where are published also the papers of the section members.
