Notes for Contributors

Two copies of the manuscript should be addressed to the Editor. Polish Sociological Review gives strong preference to electronic submission. Manuscripts should not normally exceed twenty-five double-spaced pages, typed (6000 words).

Papers grossly exceeding this guideline may be returned to their authors unreviewed, pending a submission of more reasonable length.

Each manuscript must be accompanied by a 100-150 words abstract to appear at the beginning of the article. Place the title and the author\'s name, institutional identification and address on a separate cover page. The title of the article (but not the author\'s name) should appear again on the first page as a means of identification. Submitted manuscripts are circulated for review without the author\'s name or institutional identification.

All copy must be double-spaced, including quoted matter, references, notes, captions, and tables. Leave generous margins on all four sides of the page.

Notes should be presented on a separate sheet at the end of the article. They should be numerated serially and typed double-spaced. They are to be used only for substantive observation and not for purpose of citation. Notes should be kept to a minimum. References should be in alphabetical order and typed double-spaced, beginning on a separate sheet at the end of the manuscript.

Citation in the text should be by author\'s surname only and the year of publication. Book references should include publisher and place and year of publication; journal references volume number, year and page numbers.

Tables and graphs should be presented on separate sheets at the end of the article, insert a location note, e.g. "table 1 about here", at the appropriate place in the text. Graphs should be prepared so that they are suitable for photographing. Authors will receive proofs of their article before publication and are requested to proof-read and return them within one week. Authors will receive 10 free reprints of their articles.

Contributors are usually notified within two months about acceptance for publication. If it is necessary to return manuscripts for changes, authors are furnished with specific recommendations by the reviewers and the Editor. Only manuscripts written in English and Polish will be finally accepted. Responsibility for final decisions on editorial revisions remains with the Editor. Manuscripts will be returned only on request.

All submissions to the Polish Sociological Review are subject to anonymous review by the Editorial Board or by panel of academic referees. Polish Sociological Review can only accept articles which follow the above-mentioned guidelines.
