“Economy in society. Actors, relations, institutions” - 2-4 lipca 2008, Kraków

W imieniu organizatorów mam przyjemność zaprosić wszystkich zainteresowanych na Konferencję "Economy in society. Actors, relations, institutions", która odbędzie się w dniach 2-4 lipca 2008 w Krakowie.

Konferencja “Economy in society. Actors, relations, institutions” jest między-zjazdową konferencją Economic Sociology Research Network of the European Sociological Association (ESA) organizowaną przez Wydział Nauk Społecznych Stosowanych Akademii Górniczo-Hutniczej im. Stanisława Staszica w Krakowie (WNSS AGH). Informacje o WNSS AGH dostępne są na stronie http://www.wnss.agh.edu.pl/.
Konferencja będzie trwała 3 dni, w ciągu których zaplanowano 6 sesji roboczych i sesję plenarną. W sesjach roboczych wezmie udział 33 referentów z 13 krajów: Chorwacji, Estonii, Finlandii, Hiszpanii, Litwy, Niemiec, Norwegii, Portugalii, Rosji, USA, Węgier, Wielkiej Brytanii oraz Polski. Tematyka konferencji koncentruje się m.in. na perspektywie transformacji gospodarek, różnorodności rynków, strategii działania ekonomicznego oraz współczesnych formach ustroju politycznego. W ramach tych bloków zostaną szczegółowo poruszone zagadnienia dotyczące m.in. Unii Europejskiej, wpływu globalnych korporacji, polityki państw, działalności mikro-przedsiębiorstw, sytuacji dostosowywania się do rynków lokalnych czy pojawienia się nowych rynków w starych społeczeństwach.
W sesji plenarnej wezmą udział: profesor Leszek Balcerowicz oraz profesor Ivan Szelenyi (profesor socjologii i politologii Uniwersytetu Yale). Profesora Balcerowicza nie trzeba bliżej przedstawiać w Polsce, natomiast Profesor Szelenyi jest uznanym autorytetem w zakresie analizy społeczeństw socjalistycznych, a potem ich transformacji, jak i struktury społecznej oraz socjologii ekonomicznej. Jest autorem, co najmniej 6 książek, które na stale weszły do kanonu socjologii światowej. Dalsze informacje o prof. Szelenyim dostępne są na stronie

ESA została założona na I kongresie w Wiedniu w roku 1992 i jest towarzystwem skupiającym ok. 700 socjologów europejskich. Towarzystwo organizuje kongresy co dwa lata (Budapeszt 1995, Essex 1997, Amsterdam 1999, Helsinki 2001, Murcia 2003, Toruń 2005, Glasgow 2007, następny kongres odbędzie się w Lizbonie w roku 2009). W kongresach uczestniczy około 1,5 tysiąca osób. Towarzystwo wydaje dwumiesięcznik „European Societies” we współpracy z wydawnictwem Routledge, który znajduje się na liście filadelfijskiej. Towarzystwo działa w oparciu o komitety badawcze. Aktualnie jest ich w ESA 31. Economic Sociology Research Network (ESNR) jest jednym z najbardziej aktywnych i najdłużej działających komitetów (założony został w 1997 roku). Organizuje systematycznie konferencje między-zjazdowe (Rethymno 2004, Lizbona 2006 i teraz Kraków 2008). Pracę komitetów organizują koordynatorzy wybierani na zjazdach towarzystwa. Obecni koordynatorzy ESRN to Oliver Kessler (Uniwersytet w Bielefeld), Rafael Marques (Uniwersytet Techniczny w Lizbonie) i Maria Nawojczyk (AGH).
